A couple of month ago, I found that Casio G-Shock releasing a new new addition to their Master of G collection, the GW-9400 Rangeman series with green color and I instantly wanted it. I’m not exactly a hardcore G-Shock collector but since I found out this
baddass great watch, G-Shocks watches have always been my favorite watch.
I’m still own a couple of G-Shock series that are over 10 years old and still running perfectly. The Rangeman GW-9400 series watch couldn’t be more perfect and definitely my favorite watch beside the Frogman series – which arguably replaced the Frogman series as the most popular all-digital G-Shock to own.
Anyway, basically GW-9400 Rangeman was an improve “technology”” from a Mudman or GW-9200 Riseman and I guess this is one of the latest and greatest G-Shock watch ever. The Rangeman engages much the same case design, however comes with most of the features typically associated with the ProTrek series.
This is preferably important new watch as the Riseman has become a very well liked G-Shock model for the last 18 years since the release of the first twin sensor model; G-Shock GW-9200. With its Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 atomic timekeeping, Triple Sensor (with digital compass, thermometer, altimeter, and barometer), and 40-record memory, it is the best choice for an outdoor activity watch and is an excellent survival watch.
The Rangeman GW-9400 Triple Sensor, provides altimeter, barometer, and compass data within a host of additional features. The sensor is now much smaller but I doubt this is the reason for the added triple sensor as the Rangeman is relatively a large watch anyhow.
I think Casio G-Shock have merely decided that their Pro-Trek and G-Shock ranges now have enough fans and follower and therefore sales of each range shouldn’t conflict too much. I also think we’re at the beginning of the smart-watch race, and therefore Casio will need stand-out products.
Casio says the G-Shock GW-9400 Rangeman is actually encouraged by the needs of professional military and adventurers along with its obvious (easy to push) buttons, 200m water resistance and a lot of features.
Together with the digital compass, altimeter (with display resolution to 1 meter), and barometer, the G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400 also boasts with a thermometer, sunrise/sunset data, 48 city world time, 1000 hour chronograph, 24 hour countdown timer, time stamp function and auto LED illumination. It appears to be cool to boot.
So overall, I’m completely amazed with this watch. and for a G-Shock, the materials that have been implemented are excellent. Very soft, sleek, gentle resin meets Stainless Steel buttons and the case-back is a amazing, the colour combinations looks awesome and I really like the idea of a Rangeman with the features of a ProTrek.
Although, the G-Shock army green GW-9400-3 with reverse (negative) display is indeed hard to read, for me personally it’s not a really a problem,
but it would awesome if G-Shock made an army green with positive display. The new Green Camo G-Shock GW-9400CMJ-3 with positive display can be a great alternative.
I’m not going to go into too many details as the watch has so many functions, it would bore you. If you do want to see a full review, there is a lot of video on YouTube… just search for “Rangeman GW-9400 military“.
